About Us:

Truth for Our Youth is a new start up media publication dedicated to empowering young students through literacy, creativity, and meaningful engagement. Our mission is to redefine education by connecting students to the real world through their own original writing, poetry, and language based learning experiences. We mobilize college students to design and implement educational projects that align with their academic, social, and public passions, inspiring K-12 students to explore and engage with learning in a way that resonates with them and prepares them for the future. We strategically use video and media to engage students in action not just consumption. 

 

The founder of Voice Up and Truth for Our Youth is focused on scaling a national movement toward well-being and social impact. He is a Hamilton Award Winner for Outstanding Contributions to the Cause of Behavioral Health and Individuals with Disabilities.

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a visionary and driven Program Director to lead the development, coordination, and execution of Truth for Our Youth programs. The Program Director will play a key role in mobilizing college students as leaders, guiding them to create and implement innovative curriculum ideas rooted in their unique passions. This position includes overseeing the development of programs that will engage elementary, middle, and high school students in hands-on, real-world learning experiences. Additionally, the Program Director will facilitate a supportive, collaborative environment where college student groups can share ideas, receive feedback, and ultimately create dynamic learning opportunities that inspire a love for knowledge, creativity, and social impact.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Program Development and Strategy:

 

Design and oversee Truth for Our Youth programs that encourage college students to turn their academic, social, and public interests into engaging curriculum for K-12 students.

 

Develop resources, workshops, and guides that help college mentors create projects connecting their passions with real-world applications in ways that foster critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity among younger students.

 

Regularly evaluate and refine program offerings to ensure they promote authentic learning and keep up with educational best practices.


 

College Student Mobilization and Collaboration:

 

Recruit, train, and manage college student groups, encouraging them to brainstorm and develop unique project ideas that reflect their own academic and personal interests.

 

Create opportunities for college student groups to collaborate, share ideas, and innovate new ways of teaching through curriculum that speaks to today’s K-12 learners.

 

Provide mentorship and guidance to ensure that projects are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and impactful for young learners.


 

Authentic Learning for K-12 Students:

 

Facilitate the design of hands-on, project-based learning experiences that connect K-12 students with subjects in a meaningful way, including STEM, social justice, environmental studies, and other areas of interest.

 

Oversee the creation of adaptable curriculum resources that teachers can easily implement, allowing students to explore and apply knowledge through authentic, real-world projects.

 

Build and manage feedback mechanisms to measure the engagement, relevance, and impact of projects on K-12 students, ensuring they foster a deep connection to learning.


 

Quarterly Celebrations and Annual Scholarship:

 

Organize quarterly showcases that recognize and celebrate the creative curriculum ideas developed by college student groups.

 

Oversee an annual scholarship program that rewards the most innovative and impactful projects, encouraging a culture of creativity and forward-thinking in educational design.

 

Coordinate events and ceremonies that bring together mentors, educators, students, and community members to celebrate achievements and inspire future participation.


 

Service Learning and Community Engagement:

 

Partner with community organizations, nonprofits, and local leaders to provide additional opportunities for project-based learning that links classroom subjects with real-world community needs.

 

Guide college students in developing service-learning components within their projects, fostering a sense of social responsibility and community impact in younger students.

 

Facilitate connections between students and professionals in various fields to provide mentorship, exposure, and inspiration for potential career paths.


 

Program Operations and Management:

 

Manage all program logistics, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure smooth program execution.

 

Develop and maintain tracking and assessment tools to measure the success of projects, engagement levels, and student growth.

 

Coordinate special events, including the annual awards ceremony, to celebrate both mentor and student achievements.


 

Outreach and Partnerships:

 

Build and maintain partnerships with colleges, universities, and youth organizations to strengthen the program’s reach and impact.

 

Collaborate with K-12 schools and educators to incorporate Truth for Our Youth programs into classrooms, promoting relevant, experiential learning that resonates with today’s students.

 

Engage with potential sponsors, donors, and stakeholders to support and expand the program’s initiatives and scholarships.


 

Communication and Promotion:

 

Work with the marketing and communications team to highlight college student projects, student successes, and educational impact stories on digital platforms.

 

Share insights and best practices on innovative curriculum design at conferences, in publications, and through media engagements to advocate for new approaches in education.

 

Serve as a champion for Truth for Our Youth, promoting the vision of authentic, real-world learning for K-12 students.



 

Qualifications:

 

Currently enrolled in a higher learning institution, including two-year or four-year colleges, universities, or trade schools.

 

Or recent alumni with very strong on campus real time connections.

 

Or, Bachelor’s degree in Education, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

 

Experience: 5+ years of experience in education program development, nonprofit management, youth engagement, or a related field, with experience in project-based or service learning highly preferred.

 

Skills and Knowledge:

 

Strong understanding of modern educational practices, including project-based, service learning, and experiential education.

 

Proven experience working with college students or young adults in leadership or mentorship roles, ideally in the context of education or curriculum development.

 

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, educators, and community stakeholders.

 

Proficiency in digital tools and social media, with a creative approach to youth engagement and educational content.

 

A passion for education innovation and authentic learning that connects students with the real world.

 

Compensation: Compensation will be determined based on the startup’s structure and resources, with the potential for an equity stake or deferred payment arrangement in the initial stages.
