Overview:
This Sports and Behavioral Health Internship offers a unique opportunity to explore the role of social media in amplifying students' voices as they share their connections to causes and movements that hold personal meaning. The intern will engage with student-athletes to help highlight their advocacy efforts and use social media platforms to gather insights into the social, mental health, and emotional support systems athletes feel are critical to their well-being. This internship is ideal for individuals interested in sports psychology, social media strategy, and athlete-driven social impact.
Key Responsibilities:

Engage with student-athletes to capture and promote their personal stories, highlighting their connections to causes such as mental health awareness, social justice, equality in sports, and other important movements.

Utilize social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.) to collect qualitative data on the social, emotional, and mental health supports athletes feel are essential to their success.

Design and execute social media campaigns to amplify student-athlete voices, focusing on personal advocacy and the role of mental health in their athletic journeys.

Collaborate with student-athletes to develop content (e.g., posts, stories, reels) that highlight their involvement in causes and how these initiatives impact their personal and athletic growth.

Track engagement, feedback, and responses from the student-athlete community to analyze trends and areas of support that need further development.

Present data and findings to department leadership, offering insights into how social media engagement reflects broader student-athlete mental health needs and advocacy efforts.

Stay updated on trends in sports, behavioral health, and digital communication to ensure effective social media outreach strategies.
Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a degree in higher education, including but not limited to psychology, sports management, communications, marketing, social work, or any related field.

Strong interest in the intersection of mental health, social media, and student-athlete welfare.

Proficient in social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, TikTok) and comfortable creating and managing digital content.

Excellent communication skills, particularly in online and remote environments.

Ability to engage with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.

Familiarity with mental health advocacy, sports psychology, or athlete-driven social causes is a plus.

Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a remote setting.
