Position Overview

Join our mission to revolutionize how young students experience creative writing and storytelling. Program Truth for Our Youth seeks passionate individuals who believe in the transformative power of creative expression and want to impact education. This role bridges collegiate creative writing programs and K-12 classrooms, fostering meaningful partnerships that benefit both communities.

 

About Us

Program Truth for Our Youth is dedicated to nurturing young minds through innovative approaches to creative writing and storytelling. We work directly with schools, teachers, families, and college writing programs to create engaging experiences that make writing fun, accessible, and inspiring for children of all ages.

 

Position Details

Location: 100% Remote

Schedule: Flexible hours

Duration: Semester-based

Compensation: 

  - Academic credit available

  - Professional letter of recommendation from founder upon successful completion

  - Volunteer opportunity for non-credit-seeking candidates

 

Key Responsibilities

- Develop engaging creative writing curricula and activities for K-12 students

- Create digital content that makes writing concepts accessible and exciting

- Collaborate with teachers to implement writing programs in their classrooms

- Design family engagement strategies to support writing practice at home

 

**College & Community Engagement (New Focus Area):**

- Research and identify top creative writing programs at colleges and universities

- Develop outreach strategies to connect with college writing departments and student organizations

- Create and manage a mentorship program pairing college writers with K-12 classrooms

- Design virtual workshop series featuring college student writers

- Coordinate collaborative writing projects between college and K-12 students

- Establish partnerships with college literary magazines and writing clubs

- Organize virtual campus visits and writing workshops

- Create opportunities for college students to serve as virtual writing tutors

- Develop innovative ways to showcase collaborative work between college and K-12 students

 

**Community Partnership Development:**

- Identify and establish partnerships with local libraries, writing centers, and literacy organizations

- Create cross-institutional writing events and competitions

- Develop community-based writing initiatives that connect different educational levels

- Design virtual writing festivals featuring both college and K-12 student work

 

Required Qualifications

- Currently pursuing or recently completed degree in Education, English, Creative Writing, or a related field

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Passion for youth education and creative development

- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

- Experience with digital collaboration tools

- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Excellence in relationship-building and networking

 

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience working with children in educational settings

- Familiarity with curriculum development

- Knowledge of current educational technology trends

- Background in creative writing or storytelling

- Experience with social media content creation

- Understanding of collegiate writing programs and academic environments

- Experience in program development or event planning
